A lot of people are of the mindset that business and contentment can’t co-exist.

There’s a feeling, especially in today’s fast-paced hustle culture, that pausing to enjoy contentment in your work or business takes away your drive, steals your ambition, and dampens the fire that common belief says is the only thing that can drive you to the top.

I disagree.

For me, contentment and building a business have always gone hand-in-hand and the two things are not mutually exclusive.

I’m here to tell you that contentment, far from diminishing your ambition or making you ambivalent about achieving your goals, has far-reaching and long-term benefits for those with a ‘bigger picture’ outlook.

Here’s how:

👊🏽 Contentment in yourself and what you have achieved creates personal confidence which allows you to build strong relationships with others. And as we all know, building relationships and creating connections are the cornerstones of business.

✌Feeling content in where you’re at in your work helps you deal with stress more effectively because you are naturally calmer. Stressed people make poor or rash decisions that will negatively impact your business.

🙂 Business culture is created and influenced from the top down. Contented bosses and managers create happy and creative spaces in which employees can flourish and grow. Happy employees always benefit your business.

So, remember, you can (and should!) have fire, ambition and drive to get to where you want. But unless you check in with your contentment along the way, you won’t be happy even when you get to where you wanted.
